For my birthday in December, my stepdaughter gave me a great book called 200 Crochet Blocks by Jan Eaton.
The first thing that I made from it was a Christmas cushion cover. I found a cushion in Homebase that was just the right size and it only cost £6. It was very jolly and cheered the living room up nicely over Christmas.
I followed the pattern in the book for the front and made granny squares for the back. I edged the top row of granny squares with a couple of rows of UK trebles to make an overlap and found four heart shaped buttons in Hobbycraft.
I enjoyed this cushion. It was a shame to have to put it away after Christmas.
As I didn’t want to waste the cushion, I decided to make another cover for it for the rest of the year.
I gathered up my stash and chose my colours, then spent ages going through the book choosing the blocks to use. I finally chose “Marigold” for the centre, “Peony” for the four corners and “Snowy Stripes” for the sides.
A little bit of spring.
